To My Heart, My Soul, My Strength;
Words cannot express the magnitude of love and appreciation I have for everything you are and everything you do.
I will never forget the day you told me you wanted to enlist in the Army.
I had just found the other half to my heart and now I’d have to wait months without seeing you, months of worrying about you. Most couples get married and start their honeymoon.
No I’m not talking about the actual honeymoon, going somewhere fancy, but the months after marriage where you get butterflies every time you say your “husband” or your “wife” to someone else because you still can’t believe you actually get to be happy for the rest of your life. When you get excited about seeing them first thing in the morning because there’s just something different about knowing that your relationship is the most official it can be.
We spent those months not only apart but unable to even pick up the phone and call. I love that I have letters to go back on and man was that time tough!
They say the first year of marriage is the hardest, well I think we soared through it with flying colors! We spent over half the year apart!
Finally this year we will hit the day where we have spent more time together in our marriage than apart and I can’t wait for that day! I’m so excited for you to come home. I am ready for the nights where I don’t wake up with my heart pounding from the dogs barking, praying that there is no one knocking on my door with bad news. I just want you in my arms safe and I won’t be able to breathe properly till that day is here.
When you spend a significant amount of time away from your soul mate you have to be creative in the ways you keep the relationship alive! I hope these photos find you well.
I know how much you miss every aspect of us, as do I. Please stay strong my love. We are almost there! Soon you will be home with the boys and I, watching them grow in person instead of via photos and Skype!
I love you so incredibly much,
Your Loving Wife, Erma I. McCandy
